Getting Started -How to select, register, and prepare for a Blacksheep MilSim event
Step 1: Identify the event/s to attend
Take into account:
Age: National level events require attendees to be at least 18 years of age. Regional event age requirements may depend on the venue.
Experience: National level events are more challenging on many levels. They are physically and mentally very demanding, and attract a highly skilled and professional player base. Regional events are great for players and teams looking to build skill and confidence in a challenging but less demanding setting. Regional events serve as great preparation for national level events.
Terrain: Blacksheep MilSim continually strives to utilize a variety of venues, each of which offers a unique range of terrain and game experience. The venues offer woodland vs. MOUT and everything in between (sometimes a combination of both). Both are challenging per Blacksheep MilSim’s venue standards and made more challenging by the objective-oriented nature of the games.
Step 2: Read the Highlights
Get the basic information: Event level, event dates, registration deadlines, age requirements, location, price, duration, description of venue and terrain etc.
Step 3: Read the OpOrder
This is MANDATORY for every attending player. Each player is expected to have read the OpOrder for an event IN ITS ENTIRETY prior to attenting the event. It is important because it provides a basic outline of the course of the game and specifies what is expected of and required of you. Along with the mission(s) outline, event timetable, and information specific to the event/venue, the OpOrder provieds rule sets pretaining to camouflage, FPS, ammo restrictions, hit rules, REDCON rules, ect.
KNOW THE RULES BEFORE YOU GET TO THE FIELD and do not expect them to be explained on site. You will need to know this information to effectively participate, so consider this your operation briefing.
If you have questions, feel free to post them in that event’s forum.
Step 4: Squad and platoon designation.
NO WALK ONs: you MUST figure out your designations before registration closes! You WILL NOT be placed on a squad if you fail to do so.
When you register you will be required to know what company, squad, and platoon you belong to.
Team leaders should reserve slots for the team in the “Squad Reservations” thread (under “Registration and Roster”) in that event’s forum.
If you are not already a member of a team, you may join a squad by posting in the “Squad Recruiting” thread (under “Registration and Roster”) in that event’s forum.
Step 5: Register and Pay
After you’ve completed payment a ticket will be e-mailed to you. Your ticket will be scanned from the e-mail you print out or from your mobile device, upon arrival at the event.
Step 6: Read the forums, ask questions, familiarize yourself with the OpOrder, and PREPARE FOR COMBAT!
